Joe Lee has been providing computerised administration and results systems for sports events since 1981.
For many years, Joe's systems have been used by many of biggest events in the UK, including National Cross Country Championships, National Track & Field Championships, National Orienteering Championships, a wide variety of Mountain Biking competitions, and the biggest Mountain Marathon in Europe. He was even contracted to provide services for the Dubai Marathon.
The English Schools' Athletic Association's Track & Field Championships are reputed to be the 3rd or 4th largest athletics event in the World each year, and were televised live for a number of years. Joe Lee's services include site-wide installation of multiple computer networks to manage athletes and results production, real-time data feeds to TV production teams, and a results system which distributed results within a few seconds of a race finishing. Results were also automatically uploaded to the ESAA website, optimised for quick access by mobile phones and enabling journalists to easily cut and paste results into their reports.
In 1997 Joe created and then managed the website for the English Schools Athletic Association until 2022 - This wasn't just an ordinary information website, it also provided all the administration facilities for all ESAA events with fully interactive entry systems, management systems for event organisers, and results programs enabling entries to be downloaded and results to be uploaded. For instance, each year the Athletics Schools' Cup competition system manages over 33,000 children in over 2500 teams from around 850 schools, with well over 100 separate meetings. All results of all events were available online.
The Track & Field Cup is just one competition. Joe provided similar services for Athletics, Cross Country, and Combined Events competitions, as a well as a fully interactive system for Primary and Secondary schools to keep track of an Awards Scheme for pupils. This was available to every school in England until ESAA changed to a different website supplier in 2022.
Joe also supplied his own photos to enhance the website. This link is to an edited snapshot of the old ESAA website which is currently no longer in use. That has over 80,000 pages of information and photos which will take a lot of time to be reworked into an historical website instead of the former interactive information website.
To assist with events, Joe regularly employed the very best local 6th form students at weekends. One of his recent team gained five A grades (all with starburst sprinkles) at A level and has now graduated from Cambridge University - Joe only selects the best!

Sadly, the Covid-19 pandemic put an end to all sporting activities for an indefinite period from March 2020, and ensuing circumstances meant that it simply hasn't been cost effective to try to restart these activities.
